Foster care children most vulnerable to school failure, drop out

It’s well known that foster youth change schools more frequently than other students, but a new study using pioneering data analysis shows foster youth are more than twice as likely to switch schools as their classmates.

Researchers at UC Berkeley’s Center for Social Services Research and at the Institute for Evidence-Based Change, a nonprofit based in Encinitas, found that about 95 percent of foster youth changed schools the first year they were placed in care compared to 37 percent to 38 percent of students in a comparison

Negative public images hamper child welfare investigators

Note: If this isn't government propaganda I don't know what is. So much so that the FACS NSW stole it from another site to use on theirs. Maybe if FACS NSW didn't lie, fabricate evidence, falsify documents and organise fake psych reports they wouldn't be so untrusted by parents in NSW. 30 000 children in foster care in Australia and more than half of them have been taken by FACS NSW. The minister in charge of FACS NSW lied before she was even voted in, promising to return 4000 children should she be elected. Instead the minister for

Note: All I know about Oxycontin is one of my best friends died from it and people who take it are dropping off like flies. Oxycontin is known as synthetic heroin. Why would you want to give it to a baby?

New Study Finds Georgia Foster Kids are Over-Medicated

Fight Child Protection Department Corruption:

Georgia’s foster children are being over-medicated, often to sedate them or control their behavior rather than treat a medical condition, a new study confirms.

The question is: What should Georgia do about it?

One solution being considered by state legislators calls for oversight of medications given to adjust the mood or behavior of thousands of foster children in Georgia. The bill calls for written standards for the dosages and combinations of psychotropic drugs given to those children, as well as an independent clinical review to assess all such medications and related treatments twice a

Women Commit More Domestic Violence

on Sun, 04/08/2012 - 12:03

A recent report by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Northern region branch says women commit more domestic violence. The report goes on to say that many of these cases to local authorities (chieftaincy institution) rather than the appropriate legal bodies.

The cases include forced early marriages, child molestation and character assassination by women.

This raises interesting questions partly because it is an area many do not study. We usually would study domestic violence as committed by men and this report has highlighted what otherwise was only theoretical.
