Children and Families Bill becomes law after receiving royal assent

Note: The following is the spin put out by the government to gloss over the fact that it will now be even easier for Social Services in the UK to steal children, and sell them off on the internet on adoption websites. Hundreds of parents have already been jailed for speaking out about this obvious violation of human rights.

Children's directors welcome 'significantly improved' Act, but warn more work is needed to ensure it supports workers on the frontline

Children in care, prospective adopters and young carers can look forward to greater government support after the Children and Families

Nine months of hell for couple after baby is taken into care

By Matt Abbott, Chief Reporter

DAD Jack Barnes told of his nine months of hell without his baby girl.

Jack Barnes and his girlfriend Cheryl Rich had their baby taken away in December 2012, just a month after she was born.

Social services feared Jack was violent and posed a real threat to Cheryl and Misty. The couple were also accused of neglect by the council’s social workers.

Thurrock Council was alerted after Cheryl was attacked following an unlicensed cagefight which Jack had taken part in and won. No-one was ever arrested.

When she gave birth in November, social services soon took Misty into

The success of a newly qualified social worker’s first year relies on the retention of experienced staff to work with them

The success of a newly qualified social worker’s first year relies on the retention of experienced staff to work with them

Employers must be careful to maintain the right balance between newly qualified and experienced employees, says social worker Nikki Burton

Support for newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) in England has significantly improve over the last two years, thanks largely to work by the Social Work Task Force and The College of Social Work, and the development of the assessed and supported year in employment (ASYE). This has seen an increase in NQSW employment, particularly in the public sector, where ASYE programmes are more easily accessed.

For some local authorities, this can mean a higher

Foster Father Abused Me!

on Tue, 01/28/2014 - 05:35

Hello,

I just wanted to say that the problems of the foster care system (corruption, incompetence, cover ups, etc) go far beyond QSLD or even Australia.

I stumbled across this site and I was raised in the foster care system in BC, Canada. I was abused in multiple homes, ignored by my social workers, and later had to endure a cover up when they withheld evidece from my case files (I obtained as an adult) so that I couldn't proceed with a lawsuit/investigation. All evidence of my claims/mistreatment/calls for help were taken from the file and all else was blacked out.

I recently discovered

(WOMENSENEWS)-- When Nancy Vivioda, 26, set off for a meeting with Detroit's Department of Human Resources in 2004 she brought all five of her children and a false expectation.

The fast food worker was working nights and paying her bills. She thought she was going in to discuss some discrepancies with her current food stamp case. But the appointment turned out to be about her husband of four years.

At the start of the meeting the children were escorted into the department's playroom by a social worker, a common practice in child welfare.

NOTE: This is proof that privatisation of child protection is not the be all and end all. In Australia all states are currently rushing into privatising child protection as soon as possible. These treacherous ministers of child protection departments insist on privatising everything possible, except for the complaints sections, as this would be the end of hiding the truth about their heinous operations of family desecration on a mass scale.

How it feels when a child on your social work team’s caseload dies

How it feels when a child on your social work team’s caseload dies

For all Munro’s attempts to erase the social work blame culture, we’re still a profession dominated by it, writes an anonymous social worker

Note: I haven't even read this yet, but I can see where it is going... "Blame Culture." You stole the child, you degraded the parent and blatantly called them a failure as a parent, the greatest insult anyone could unleash upon a loving parent possible. You personally drag the child from his home to the house of some stranger, where you turn your back on him leaving him there alone and confused.

You are not there to watch over them or to check on them,

Service providers defend their agencies in face of critical youth advocate’s report B.C. MCFD child welfare expenses

More than half-a-billion dollars is spent each year in B.C. on child protection services — an important system that was harshly criticized last week by the province’s youth advocate.

The provincial budget earmarked $500 million for the 2012/13 year — and for the next two fiscal years — to pay for child-welfare costs such as social workers, foster parents and supporting troubled youth to live independently.

The federal government also gave an estimated $57 million in 2012/13 to

Kaiser Had No Right to Sterilize Mom, She Says

OAKLAND, Calif. (CN) - While she was in labor, under sedation and on her way to a C-section, Kaiser staff coerced a woman into signing a consent form for a tubal ligation, she and her fiancé allege in a civil rights complaint filed in Alameda County Superior Court.
In the complaint, Michelle Harris Anderson and Brett Harris Anderson accuse Kaiser of abusing its power in violation of their civil rights. The couple also alleges that a Kaiser social worker misrepresented that she was "mandated" to report Ms.

S.A. couple: Social worker unfairly targeted us after baby delivery

SAN ANTONIO -- The parents of a newborn baby say they were unfairly targeted by a social worker at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital.

Christine Aragon and boyfriend Albert Salinas welcomed a 6-pound, 15-ounce baby girl named Zooey last Wednesday.

Aragon said just hours after going through a Cesarean Section delivery, she was approached by a hospital employee, who questioned her about her medical history.

The worker eventually left paperwork for the mother of four, detailing how to get counseling for postpartum depression.

The same worker returned the following day, and informed the couple
