Foster care children most vulnerable to school failure, drop out

It’s well known that foster youth change schools more frequently than other students, but a new study using pioneering data analysis shows foster youth are more than twice as likely to switch schools as their classmates.

Researchers at UC Berkeley’s Center for Social Services Research and at the Institute for Evidence-Based Change, a nonprofit based in Encinitas, found that about 95 percent of foster youth changed schools the first year they were placed in care compared to 37 percent to 38 percent of students in a comparison

THE SECRET HISTORY of SOCIAL SERVICE CRIMES: HITLER + today's SOCIAL WORKER

“In the best interest of the child” sounds familiar?  “In the best interest of the child", "The "Lebensborn" project was one of most secret and terrifying Nazi projects.

“In the best interest of the child" - Do you know what this means...?

It was an SS Nazi slogan, now used by today's family courts to determine custody: It is also... the prime directive of all Child Protection Services.

“Justice denied anywhere, diminishes justice everywhere.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Funding certainty for vital services for families and children

Funding certainty for vital services for families and children
One wonders about Funding certainty for vital services for families and children. Do Julie Collins MP, Mark Dreyfus MP, Shayne Neumann MP and Jenny Macklin MP really believe that the organisations this money is allocated to will make a difference, or will this funding be pocketed. How can anyone do anything to help children and families when the child protection departments across Australia are a law unto themselves, and children in the system are doomed to be abused, molested, murdered and taken advantage of by those who make money off these children.

on Tue, 08/07/2012 - 14:17

TASMANIA'S Commissioner for Children fears foster kids are being silenced by the State Government, with the future of a key support program hanging in the balance.

Aileen Ashford is stumped that she can no longer run a children's visitors program that was set up by her predecessor almost three years ago.

The program matches independent volunteers with foster children, providing kids with an independent avenue to voice concerns or opinions about out-of-home-care.

The State Government's Children and Youth Services director Mark Bryne said the program was not part of the commissioner's "primary

Arkansas Department Human Services Little Rock Cuts Funding to Child Abuse Prevention

on Thu, 04/26/2012 - 17:14

UPDATE DHS to cut funding to child abuse prevention programs

LITTLE ROCK — The state Department of Human Services said today it will cut funding to programs aimed at preventing child abuse because of a $2.2 million reduction in federal funding.

The cuts will take effect July 1. They are being made in response to a reduction in the funding the state receives through the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, or TANF.

The agency said it is targeting prevention programs with the cuts so no caseworker positions will have to be eliminated.

“It was not easy for us to give up

Preventing child abuse in the first place

on Sat, 04/21/2012 - 08:05

A ten-year old girl that was abused draws hearts on a sketch pad toy in the waiting room of the Child Protection Center, part of St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, in 2003. The girl sits besides a Cabbage Patch Kid doll that the Child Protection Center gave her as a gift for coming into the center to be interviewed by a specialist about the abuse she experienced. An ounce of prevention isn’t just the opening phrase of a worn-out cliche. It’s a brilliant approach to child welfare.

I dare you to find anyone who would argue it’s better to wait to offer a hand until a tenuous
