Where is the Line Between Adoption and Child Buying?

Where is the Line Between Adoption and Child Buying?

Adoption was once under the auspices of trained social workers who purported to have the best interests of children-in-need in their heart. Over the past several decades, however, American domestic infant and international adoption has become privatized and entrepreneurial. Only adoption from foster care remains in the hands of the state and unfortunately represents its own set of failures, abuses and funding driven corruption.

The difference between for- and not-for-profit adoption agencies is merely a tax status, though the later gives an illusion of a charitable organization.

Discipline With an Adoption Twist

More Adoption Propaganda By Deborah Moore, based on the work of Doris Landry, MS with permission. While waiting for our first referral, I read all the latest parenting books and thoroughly researched the most popular disciplinary techniques. I felt well prepared and ready to par- ent, and assumed I would know exactly what to do with my oldest daughter when she came home at f ifteen months old. I would know how to feed her when she was hungry, change her when she was wet, rock her to sleep when she was tired, and comfort her when she was hurt or sad. And for the most part, that was true.

Families SA - What Mandatory Reporters are not meant to notify

What not to notify

If it is not a child protection matter it should not be notified.

Examples of things you do not need to report as child abuse or neglect

  • The child has a bruise but there has been no disclosure of how this occurred and the child’s behaviour has not markedly changed.
There is insufficient evidence to suggest a child protection concern.
  • Two siblings are fighting in a schoolyard.
This has no obvious child protection component. While the matter may be of concern, if it is not child protection then it is not an issue for Families SA.
  • The parents use drugs or alcohol recreationally

ADHD could see Children Removed from their Parents if they Refuse to Drug Them

ADHD could see Children Removed from their Parents if they Refuse to Drug Them

New Australian Clinical Practice Points (CPPs) on ADHD could see Children Removed from their Parents if they Refuse to “Treat their Child’s ADHD”

An extremely concerning statement in the CPPs on ADHD indicates that Australia could now be following the US model where children can be removed from their parents if they refuse to give their child ADHD drugs. On page 15 of the CPPs it states, "As with any medical intervention, the inability of the parents to implement strategies may raise child protection concerns."

Senior managers are so removed, they need a telescope to see the frontline

Senior managers are so removed, they need a telescope to see the frontline

Social workers often complain of a gulf between senior managers and frontline staff. But how important is this relationship to the running of services?

This management survey has been sponsored by Southend council but the editorial content is independent of the sponsor.

Senior managers are focused on targets and savings, not services. They are out of touch with frontline social work. They make restructuring decisions without properly consulting staff. These were some of the responses to Community Care’s survey on senior social work management.

Desperate parents surrender autistic children to state custody

In the weeks before Garrett Lines was hospitalized, he insisted on symmetry and separation. If he said "goodbye" and someone responded "see you later" instead of echoing him, he screamed. If he stepped on someone’s shadow, he ran backward to escape.

CPS worker fired after child starves

She came into the state system on the day she was born, taken from her mother so that she would be protected. For the next year, she would thrive under the care of her foster family and then she would go home.

The right of a parent to screw up trumps the right of a child to grow up.

So we entrusted the tot to a mother who was supposed to love her and a state child-welfare system that was supposed to look out for her.

Ten months after Za’Naya Flores was sent home, she died of starvation.

Now her Child Protective Services caseworker has been fired but not without first taking a parting shot

Okla. governor signs human services bills into law

on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 09:05

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Legislation that overhauls the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and reorganizes the agency's child welfare division to make it more accountable and effective was signed into law Thursday by Gov. Mary Fallin.

Surrounded by members of the House and Senate who helped develop the proposals during the legislative session that ended May 25, Fallin said the measures will help turn around an agency that has been the focus of withering criticism in recent years following the high-profile deaths of several children in its custody.

"Today is a turning point where we add more

SystemSuckology: Understanding Child Abuse Propaganda Month - Part 2: Sitting Around The Campfire Telling Child Abuse Stories

on Sat, 04/07/2012 - 06:11

"Dozens gathered to light candles and remember the many victims of child abuse. It was also a night to honor victims who survived like Adam Carbajal."

In the first installment of this series, we discussed the use of National Child Abuse Awareness Month as an excuse to hold a fundraiser.  While I believe this to be the true reason of this month long celebration,  I think it is important to build upon this concept and discuss how they actually sucker these people into giving their money or getting involved.
