False Abuse Reports Trouble Child Welfare Advocates

Child protection experts say false, malicious reports of abuse are not uncommon. Efforts to address the problem face complex challenges.

In some neighborhoods in this city, it’s not uncommon for people to file an allegation of child abuse or neglect to settle a grudge.

In a meeting with City Limits, lawyers and social workers from The Bronx Defenders, which represents parents with child welfare cases in the Bronx, described a string of such cases: a landlord who repeatedly called in child neglect complaints against a tenant whose housing support check wasn’t coming through; a neighbor who

NSW DOCs head charged with domestic abuse

The head of the NSW Department of Family and Community Services has stood down after he was charged with domestic violence.

So he bashed a woman. Now how many families has this hypocrite ruined because of domestic violence where a man hit a woman. This man is a predator. Will they give back all the children he authorised to be taken because of domestic violence? This man will simply get a fine and walk away leaving all the damage he has caused intact.

Jim Moore, 52, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday after police were called to an alleged domestic dispute at a home in Paddington,

POLICE must be given the power to arrest suspects on the spot to issue them with apprehended domestic violence orders, according to a multi-party report.

A NSW upper house committee has called for the Crimes Act to be toughened to better protect victims of domestic abuse. The committee said the law should allow police to arrest and detain aggressors immediately. It should also allow third parties to apply for orders on behalf of someone who is physically or mentally impaired.

Another one of the 84 recommendations urges the government to allow police ranked sergeants or above to issue

Women Commit More Domestic Violence

on Sun, 04/08/2012 - 12:03

A recent report by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Northern region branch says women commit more domestic violence. The report goes on to say that many of these cases to local authorities (chieftaincy institution) rather than the appropriate legal bodies.

The cases include forced early marriages, child molestation and character assassination by women.

This raises interesting questions partly because it is an area many do not study. We usually would study domestic violence as committed by men and this report has highlighted what otherwise was only theoretical.

The phrase “women and their children” indicating a strong suggestion of a concept of family which excludes fathers as a part.

This council included a dozen members who authored a 204 page rationale and set of recommendations for sweeping changes to Australian domestic
